Send missed calls to Emma.
Emma’s number is your Emma number. You set your shop line to forward there only if nobody answers.
How “forward if not answered” works
- Your phone rings first, just like today.
- If nobody picks up after several rings (usually 20 to 30 seconds, set by your carrier), the call goes to Emma instead of voicemail.
- Calls you answer never reach Emma. Turn it off any time.
Don’t use “forward all calls” — that sends every call to Emma and your phone won’t ring.

VoIP / phone system (RingCentral, Grasshopper, Google Voice, etc.)
Look in your phone system’s call handling or call rules settings for what happens to unanswered or missed calls, and point that at your Emma number. Set the ring time to about 20 seconds if it asks.
RingCentral
- Open your call handling rules (Settings → Phone → Call rules and voicemail).
- Under Missed calls, choose Forward to external number and enter your Emma number.
- In Ring settings, about 4 rings is 20 seconds.
To turn it off, set Missed calls back to Send to voicemail.

Google Voice
Google Voice forwarding rings your linked phones; it isn’t a setting that sends only unanswered calls somewhere else. Google also says forwarding Google Voice calls to an automated system is unsupported, so it can’t send your missed calls to Emma. Email us and we’ll help you find a setup that works. Grasshopper and other systems
Check with your provider how to send unanswered calls to an outside number, and how to turn it off. If you get stuck, email us and we’ll walk through it with you.
Test it
Call your shop number from another phone and let it ring. Emma should answer.
